It’s also really easy to see into for the amount it rejects. I mean, it’s clearly tinted, but it’s not murdered out.

Kinja'd!!!

I hope my car appreciates how good it has it compared to most cars. So few have a garage space like this.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s 3M Crystalline Tint (CR40)

See? I also like being able to be seen - driving is a cooperative human activity, where being able to acquire eye contact, wave, or otherwise communicate is important. Not to mention being able to see out. So many crazy kids put like 5-15% on their cars and I just don’t get it.

Kinja'd!!!

Looking in the back. You can still see everything and right on through to the other side. No SUV-like blocking my fellow drivers here.

Can anyone pick out my Oppo sticker? There are two, but only one is visible here.

I have 5% tint all around except the front, it’s like looking into a evil satanic void.

Same. I like the privacy. So others can only judge me on how I drive and what i drive and not what i look like.

Plus I can dig my nose in peace while I am alone in the car.

I just roll the front ones down when I pass cops.

What’s your percentage? I am putting off getting ceramic on my hot pepper red until I’m done paying double rent (our dream place came up, so I moved in 2 months early).

I was thinking 35%.

I need to tint my FoST. Now that I work in the car wash industry, I accept that my paint will forever be swirled and micro scratched since I got voluntold that I should test the wash on my own car....upside is it's a focus so I'm strangely okay with that and have accepted that as a personal challenge to reduce the damage done

I wish I could legally tint my front windows. Stupid laws, getting in the way of my comfort and happiness.

It’s CR40, which is ~40%.

Looks good. A lot of people are saying to go 20% but then move on and say they can’t see unless it’s daytime out. I don’t see much of a reason to go darker than say, 30%

This stuff looks lighter than average 50%, in my opinion, yet keeps the car cooler than mid-range 5%...

I’ve heard similar and it makes me chuckle. All the kids think darker is better,  but they fail to realize that windows are clear for a reason.

Although I’d like it to not be a fishbowl, I’m more concerned with keeping the car cool than looking dark. Even though I have a garage,  It sits in the sun at work all day and then when I get out of the gym (especially now) I have to sit forward in my seat to avoid getting sweat on them because the car is so hot. I usually have to change again when I get home.

I found mine quite uncomfortable before i got my windows tinted. Spending two years with it untinted really hot home how much of a difference it makes. These cars get so hot when untinted.

I’m not sure what it is, but between my ‘17 Kona and ‘18 HPR, I’ve owned a FoST for about 15 months and it’s bar none the hottest car I’ve ever dealt with inside.

It’s my understanding that ceramic portion of the film absorbs mostly IR and UV light, so you don’t even need that much dye in the film for it to reduce internal temps. In Arizona people tint their windshields with almost clear ceramic tint in order to reduce temps.

I considered that on mine, but t he tint guy said there was risk of water getting in the dash when I asked about putting the 90% tint on my car, so I decided against it. I’d definitely have risked it if I lived down there... Up here a window shade is plenty for when it is parked in the sun.

I drive around all summer in a topless Jeep.  I use my skin to absorb all the IR and UV rays.

I turn red almost instantly in those conditions. My skin can only deal with something like 5 minutes of direct sunlight before it burns...

Is it ceramic or crystalline? Those are two different lines of tint by 3M and they also look different. Ceramic is more of a true black whereas Crystalline can have a slightly blue-ish hue to it in direct sunlight.

I didn’t realize there was a difference. I thought “Crystalline” was simply their marketing name for their ceramic tint. Mine is from this line,  CR40.
